We were told it would be really helpful to watch Pans Labyrinth in relation to our research about fairytale, wonderland and mystery and we LOVE LOVE LOVED it!

Its given me so much inspiration for our fashion show at Coco Tang, we could really base it around the theme and make subtle links to the film if we wanted to!
the main points that i took from it that i liked were;
- following fairies; somehow the characters in these films have a trust in them even though they are so unknown
- the focus upon finding refuge in make believe because the real world is such a daunting place
- the idea of there being a 'king' of the underworld and the princess being born by the moon
- the moon as a symbol
- a book spelling out the future...again trusting in the unknown 'the book of crossroads'
- the use of the key as a symbol within magic - this relates to our ideas for the show already adn would fit well!
- the symbol of the moon gradually growing closer to the full moon over time.. we could maybe use this as a symbol within the fashion show, time progressing. the use of time is present wihtin many fairytale stories eg. aladdin and the hourglass, alice in wonderland etc
- magic empowers the child with knowlege that adults cannot understand
- like the idea of doors being traced in the wall and emerging in reality; create your own door, create your own story, create your own mystery, create your own magic
- temptation is a sin

"traces of magic are only visible to those who know where to look"
